Tarryn-Lee Raju
Teacher Music
Tarryn’s life and passion is music. At the age of 5 she started playing the piano and was involved in the school choir, band, and school plays. Later in her school days she learnt how to play a range of other instruments such as voice, drum-kit, trumpet and clarinet. Voice and piano has always been her strongest and most favored instrument, with the drums closely following. Tarryn has spent most of her life being in as many choirs and bands (Big Band, Jazz Band, Church Worship Band, etc.) as possible. She completed her Trinity College of London external music examinations in Piano, Voice, Drum-Kit and Theory.

Tarryn always knew she was destined to become a teacher, although she was not sure at that time it would be so heavily focused on music. She studied her Bachelor’s Degree in Education (Elementary), and continued her studies in Inclusive Education (Honors Degree). Tarryn secured her first teaching job as a Grade 1 and Grade 2 Generalist for five years and then became a Music Teacher for Grades K-7. Throughout both teaching positions, Tarryn conduced and taught, and accompanied multiple choirs, marimba, African drumming and percussion bands. Upon moving to Canada, from South Africa, in 2018, she taught private music instruction for 3 years. Tarryn then joined The Third Academy family in September 2021 as the lead music teacher for Grades ECS-12, as well as the Jr High gym instructor. Recently, she has become the Drama lead for the Elementary and Jr High students as well.

Tarryn enjoys spending time with her husband and 2 children (ages 6 and 8). She loves playing board games, D&D, and RPG computer games… when she’s not playing the piano and singing!
